Admissions of 300 Students Cancelled by DTE

More than 300 admissions have been cancelled by the state directorate of technical education that was done in management courses offered by various colleges in Maharashtra.

Dayanand Meshram, Joint Director of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) informed that various complaints were made regarding students who have submitted fake students. Necessary action have been taken against 15 MBA students and colleges have also been informed about the matter and they have been asked to expel such students, added Meshram.

He also informed that the colleges have been directed to lodge a criminal case against students who were found guilty of submitting fake disability, caste validity, caste or any such document that benefits them in the admission process.

The malpractice was rampant in medical courses earlier. The directorate of medical education and research had canceled 19 admissions in three years. But submission of fake caste certificates and other documents are now being reported from engineering and management colleges, too.

All joint directors in the state have also been informed about the issue and have been instructed to carefully cross-verify the documents submitted by students during admission procedure.

Meshram said that there have been students who have graduated from reputed engineering colleges and claimed their seats in the colleges on the basis of fake documents. Some of these students have also submitted the same certificate for post-graduation, making the situation even worse, he added. Having accounted for all these past events, colleges have been alerted and asked to cancel admissions of all such students.

Colleges are ensuring that seats are allotted without any discrepancy and a merit-based, the authentic system is incorporated for admissions.

15 MBBS students from Mumbai were expelled just a fortnight ago on the allegations of having submitted fake caste certificates and secured admission under the SC/ST reserved seats.
