Admissions to MCI unapproved courses to be stopped in Bihar
The education department of Bihar has asked the colleges to stop admitting students in the courses which have not been approved by the Medical Council
The education department of Bihar has asked the colleges to stop admitting students in the courses which have not been approved by the Medical Council of India. A total of 66 degrees and 110 diploma seats would be curbed as a result of the decision.
The Patna High court had directed the colleges not to take admission in the unapproved courses, recently as a result of a writ petition against the conducting of the courses in the reputed colleges such as Patna Medical College.

- PMCH - 36 seats
It had been reported in the last months that some medical colleges from Patna are running courses that have not been approved by the MCI. This matter came into notice when a writ petition was submitted in Patna High Court, to discontinue the unapproved diploma courses being run by the colleges. The court had directed the education department of the state to look into the matter and get the courses discontinued. It was stated by the court that this may mislead the students and play with their future as the courses may not be recognized anywhere and the students might be rendered credit-less even after completing the whole course.
On a final note, the courses would stay without admission until MCI recognizes them.
