The current fee of private colleges is already pretty high but the AFRC, which is the Admission and Fees Regulatory Committee, has now given them more freedom to increase the fees. The notice recently released by the AFRC allows the private medical colleges to increase the tuition fee from 33 percent to 52 percent. This increase is applicable for students who start their college from October this academic year.

Earlier the fees of private medical colleges used to be between Rs. 3,75,000 and Rs. 4,00,000 but on the basis of the new notice, the fees will be from Rs. 5,00,000 to Rs. 5,72,000. If you want to do your MBBS from a premier college then you will end up paying minimum Rs. 28,00,000 for four and a half years and this does not include the capitation fee.

This decision is taking a lot of heat from students and parents. The people including the student union protested against this decision on Monday i.e. 29th August’ 16. Then the AFRC said that this decision is valid for only three years and the fees will be revised in the year 2019. But according to the proposal that is made, one can expect a 100 percent increase in fees in next six years.
The private colleges have already started increasing the fees basis this rule for the students who are taking admission in the academic year 2016.
