The CBSE paper leak issue has caused tremendous disturbance among students and parents throughout the country. With a motive to not repeat such issues in future, HRD Ministry replaced it with a new system of distributing question papers to tackle the issue. As a further step, the HRD Ministry is also planning to ensure a glitch-free admission season this year.

The admission process in most central and state universities begins after the announcement of Class 12 results. It is an online process and to conduct it without any technical glitch is absolutely mandatory. Therefore, the ministry does not want to take any chance and is working on ensuring a smooth admission process this year.

Every year, lakhs of students pursue UG courses in India. However, all universities do not follow a uniform method of admission process. For instance, the admission process of Delhi University and Mumbai University is based on cut-offs. There are other universities that grant UG admissions based on entrance test or Class 12 merit.

The HRD Ministry will also direct universities to conduct a special admission drive for North-East students.

The admission process for UG courses is likely to begin in May 2018. Popular universities like the University of Delhi are expected to begin the registration process for the admissions in the last week of April itself. This year, the DU cut-offs are expected to drop, as CBSE and state boards have decided to halt the practice of inflating marks.
