Agniveers to clear written tests for recruitment in CAPFs: As per the latest updates, Agniveers who were earlier offered a 10% reservation have to appear for a written examination for recruitment in the paramilitary forces. On April 6, 2023, CRPF notified about the updates in the rules of the recruitment process. Highlights on Updates on Written Tests for Agniveers
Per the notification released by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2010, candidates recruited under the Agnivers in CAPFs will get 3 years of age relaxation and were exempted from physical efficiency tests. The new rule seemed to have replaced the old notification. According to the official at CRPF, they were waiting for clarity from the MHA on how this rule will be applicable to the ex-Agniveers without affecting the existing caste quota.
Well, the latest notification mentioning Agniveers clearing written tests clearly specified that new rules won't put any impact on the age limit, reservation or other concessions. The three armed wings-Army, Navy and Air Force generally don’t abide by reservation norms but from now onwards enrolment in CAPFs will be conducted by not exceeding the 50% reservation limit.
Physical Standards Notified in Agniveers Recruitment in CAPFs
According to notification, Agniveers need to clear written tests for recruitment in CAPFs and are required to hold at least a matriculation degree. From now onwards, applicants for Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme have to qualify for a physical efficiency test and written examination for the role of constable. Well, the ex-Agniveer need not go through any exams.
To date, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF), and Border Security Force(BSF) have taken steps toward updating recruitment rules for Group C posts by specifying reservation for the Agniveers, it is certainly a template for other CAPFs.
According to some media sources, the central government has plans to recruit around 46,000 Agniveers in the 1st phase.
