Agriculture Degrees Equal to Engineering Degrees: Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh
- Mr. Radha Mohan Singh addressed the students on National Agriculture Education Day and talked about advanced in agricultural education.
- He said that the report of Fifth Dean has been implemented and will benefit graduates pursuing agricultural courses.
Union Minister, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh announced that the Committee Report of Fifth Dean had been implemented in all the agricultural universities. The objective of the report is to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote education in this field. Another objective of the report is to keep up with the technological advancements. The minister was happy to clarify that all the graduate level agriculture courses and other related programmes have been declared as professional courses. Through this initiative, all the agricultural graduates will get better work opportunities in the future.
Adding further, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh mentioned that ICAR (Indian Council for Agricultural Research) launched various new courses to improve the quality of higher education in the agricultural sector. The government is also aiming to attract youth, including schoolchildren, to take up higher studies in the agricultural sector, he added.

During the financial year 2013-14, the central government had increased the education budget in agriculture field by 47.4 percent.
Addressing the students on National Agricultural Education Day, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh mentioned that the Fifth Dean Committee Report prepared necessary guidelines for improving administrative educational standards for construction and implementation of contemporary courses for the different subjects covered in agricultural education.
The report of Fifth Dean will benefit graduates in the field of agricultural courses and will bring it at par with engineering courses. The move will also open opportunities for higher education abroad, said Mr. Radha Mohan Singh.

Today, many students are evincing keen interest in taking up courses in agriculture sciences. There is a wide scope for research in this field and graduates in this field will have opportunities to exhibit their knowledge and innovate new methods.
