AICTE Allows Gadget in Classroom

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the apex body for all the engineering and management colleges in India.

The rule ‘gadgets in the classroom’ was considered and made live during AICET’s 96th executive committee meeting that was held in New Delhi recently.

Currently, differently-abled students have a 3 per cent reservation for admission to all technical and professional institutes in the country.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has allowed differently-abled students in all engineering colleges in India to record their lectures for their convenience.

Council chairman Prof Anil D Sahasrabuddhe said “Every college has been asked to set up a disability resource center.” So, students can do everything up to their potential.

AICTE officials said “The students need to be allowed short breaks, colleges will need to maintain a record of their medication and allergies, classrooms, labs, canteen and toilets will have to be disability-friendly.”

Up till now, there were no specific provisions for students with disabilities except during exam time. Now, the colleges have been asked to follow the steps in their day-to-day activities.
