AICTE: Engineering Colleges to be Penalised for Violating Pay Scales
The institutes, which fail to follow the norms, will also have to face the suspension of admission process in a respective course for one academic year.
As per the new norms of All India Council for Technical Education, the admission process of the engineering colleges might be suspended if these colleges do not adhere to rules and regulations set with regard to the pay scales of the teachers. The colleges must also maintain proper student-faculty ratio to avoid reduction of intake.
In a recent meeting, All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE approved the new norms regarding granting approval to technical institutes. Keeping in view the protests of faculty members of Aligarh Muslim University, Delhi University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University against the non-adherence to pay scales, AICTE has taken this decision. The faculty members of these universities demanded that the recommendations of UGC’s Seventh Pay Review Committee must be made public.

Moreover, these institutes will have to face suspension of supernumerary seats as well as leading to reduction in the approved intake.
