AICTE to Translate NPTEL and Swayam Courses into 8 Languages
The chairman of AICTE, Anil Sahasrabudhe has requested all the students, teachers, professionals and researchers to translate the courses on these sites into their respective regional language.
As per the official notification, the technical regulating body of India, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to translate the courses available on NPTEL and Swayam. For this, AICTE has asked the students and academics to translate the courses on the national platform into 8 different languages. The chairman of AICTE, Anil Sahasrabudhe has requested all the students, teachers, professionals and researchers to translate the courses on these sites into their respective regional language.

As per the official notification issued on twitter by AICTE, it was stated that the courses will be translated into Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam and Gujarati. It was also stated that the translators of the courses will be awarded appreciation certificates and various non-tangible benefits. The technical courses available over the platforms are available only in English which is also broadcasted on Swayam TV in the English Language.

The decision of translating the language has been taken with the purpose of helping the students in the rural area to understand the technical course. Apart from translating the courses, there will be various online options available over the platform to make education seamless for the students.
In the letter issued by AICTE to the principles and Technical Institutes Authorities, it was stated that in case the script of the course will be translated in the regional languages, the students will be able to read the script while watching the videos.
