All About Fellowship in Astronomy, 60,000 Stipend Per Month
The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is offering two postdoctoral fellowships to students doing research on various areas of astronomy and astrophysics. Candidates interested in these fellowship can check the details of these two fellowships.
Candidates with a Ph.D degree in Mathematics and Physical Sciences from any recognized Institute or University are provided a fellowship by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. Indian Institute of Astrophysics offers this fellowship to researchers who are working in instrumentation, observation, and theory in many areas in astronomy and astrophysics.
Stipend: Indian Institute of Astrophysics offers Rs 40,000 as a fixed fellowship. However, there is an annual increment of Rs 1,500 per month. Allowances like a medical facility, book grants, and house rent are offered to the candidates based on the rules of the University.
Age Criteria: The candidates applying for this fellowship should be less than 36 years.
Chandrasekhar Post Doctoral Fellowship
This fellowship is offered to students who are outstanding in academics.
Duration Of Fellowship: The duration of the Chandrasekhar Post Doctoral Fellowship is two years. However, it can be extended to and one more year can be added.
Age Criteria: The candidates who will be applying for the Chandrasekhar Post Doctoral Fellowship need to be below 32 years of age.
Stipend: The stipend offered for fellowships to students are given in details below-
Candidates with 2 years experience | Rs 50,000-Rs 55,000 |
Candidates more than 2 years experience | Rs 55,000-Rs60,000 |
Other Benefits: An annual contingency grant of Rs 2,00,000 will be given to the Chandra Fellows. Candidates will be given other benefits like medical, housing benefits, etc as per the rule of the Institute. During the assignment travel support by the economy, airfare will be provided to the Chandra Fellows. The fellows of the Chandrasekhar Post Doctoral Fellowship will be able to choose their own research topics and will be allowed to collaborate with institutions or any other individuals/ groups.
Chandrasekhar Post Doctoral Fellowship Application Process
The candidates can choose to send their application by any of these given dates- December 31, March 31, June 30 and September 30 2019
The applications of the candidates are reviewed every quarter that is in the first week of January, April, July, and October. Candidates can opt for the application form online.
Note: It is advised that the candidates try to submit their application form 3 days prior to the given dates.
