Lucknow High Court Stays Admission Through NEET in Ayurveda and Unani Colleges
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has permitted admissions through national eligibility cum entrance test (NEET) in Ayurveda, Unani Medical Colleges of Uttar Pradesh till 20th December 2018.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has allowed admissions through national eligibility entrance test (NEET) in Ayurveda, Unani Medical Colleges of Uttar Pradesh till 20th December 2018. Only those students who have qualified the NEET examination will be given preference for the same.
Once the process is done, the remaining vacant seats will be filled up by the state government by looking for the meritorious students who match the criteria.
The court has also ordered to complete the admission process by 15th December 2018. In case, the state government is unable to fill the seats then it will be open for AYUSH colleges to take admission as per directions of the Karnataka High Court. The colleges will have to complete the admission process from 16th to 20th December 2018. The last date for admission is 20th December 2018.

Although there is no requirement of having an English subject in class 12th. In the process of admission to Unani colleges, the law makes Urdu language compulsory and there is no test with regard to the knowledge of Urdu is made in NEET. Due to which a large number of qualified students have to suffer and the remain out of the examination process for different Ayurveda colleges and no student gets a chance for Unani medical colleges.

Citing the above-given reasons, the petitioners challenged the admission process through NEET with regard to the various Ayurveda and Unani medical colleges.
