Allahabad University Demands Recruitment of Teachers
Allahabad University seeks to increase the number of posts for teachers and non-teaching staff. The recruitment against these posts will begin soon once the university gets the sanction.
After the commitment made by Allahabad University to increase its base admission strength by 15% to attain 10% of reservation for EWS (Economic Weaker Section) categories, the university has increased this year’s admission by 10%. In this context, AU is now demanding an increase in 80 teaching posts as well as 150 non-teaching posts.
The officials at Allahabad University stated that after the 10% seat reservation for EWS students, the university needs to increase 25% of overall seats in order to maintain the seat distribution for general category students. They further said that due to this increase in seats, the university needs to increase its number of staff due to the increased workload on currently appointed staff members.

A memorandum has been already sent by AU to the union ministry of human resource development (MHRD) and University Grants Commission (UGC) for the sanctioning of the required new posts. Confirming the development of the university’s officials, AU Registrar Prof. N.K. Shukla said that as soon as they get the sanction, the recruitment process for the new posts will begin.

Following the annual 2018-19 recruitment report of Allahabad University, the university has a total number of 863 seats for teaching staff, among which only 312 seats are occupied and the rest 551 seats remain vacant. In terms of non-teaching staff, while the university has a total of 1389 posts among which 874 seats are occupied and the remaining 515 seats are vacant. With the increased student intake, AU also strives to boost its overall infrastructure in the near future.
