For the upcoming session, Allahabad University would be offering postgraduate courses through correspondence. To start with, there would be 10 degree and two diploma courses on offer.
The subjects for MA and MSc are History, Hindi, English, Political Science, Economics, Urdu, Education and Sociology. Apart from these, a candidate can also pursue MSc in Mathematics or MCoM if he or she wishes to. Diploma in Cyber Law and the diploma in Intellectual Property rights (IPR) are the other two options to choose from.
The modalities for running the programme would be approved at the meeting of the academic council later. Enrolled students would be able to access the study material on a CD or by downloading the same from the dedicated website. Tutorials through video-conferencing are also one of the options for authorities, depending on the number of candidates at any given city or center.
The entire programme would be based on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) having semester system for the courses. Although the fee, per annum, has not been decided yet, but the authorities want it to keep nominal.
The director of the distance education, Prof Ansari said: "Ten departments, who were interested in running PG through distance learning, have given their syllabus and we are making efforts to see that the programme starts along with the regular new academic session (2016-17) of AU i.e. July 15, 2016.”
