Alliance University’s New School of Liberal Arts to Launch Transdisciplinary UG Program

Alliance University, Karnataka has launched a new School of Liberal Arts offering a unique undergraduate programme that enables students to select subjects and design their degrees with majors and minors tailored to their interests. In an online event, renowned Indian writer Chetan Bhagat launched the school.
Anubha Singh, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the unique features of the liberal arts program at Alliance University, including transdisciplinarity. According to a university statement, due to 21st-century challenges like climate change, the university has endorsed a new pedagogy that goes beyond mere interdisciplinarity.
The Alliance School of Liberal Arts curriculum is uniquely designed to help students develop their abilities in critical thinking, logical analysis, and creativity.
As a result of this program, students will be prepared to be future-ready and improve their life skills," the statement said.
School courses cover such subjects like Sociology, Political science, Literature, Philosophy, Indian culture to promote students' development.

Fellowship programme at Alliance University
The university is also offering a postgraduate fellowship program called "Global Leaders' Alliance" (GLA). Through the fellowship programme, young thinkers will be trained to address the unique and multifaceted challenges of the twenty-first century.
Teaching will be provided by a group of distinguished faculty members from top-ranked institutions around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard. In addition to English, Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Data Science, and Applied Mathematics, the School of Liberal Arts offers several undergraduate majors.

The programme also consists of a broad set of foundation courses that would help students to develop their fundamental skills in critical thinking, research, and ethics. The students will also have the choice of studying a foreign language of their choice. Students will have the opportunity to take classes taught by a foreign faculty member. Upon the conclusion of their undergraduate studies, these students will also gain access to the GLA fellowship programme.
