Amity Group Proposes to Set Up a New University in Mohali
- Amity Group's proposed investment to set up a university in Mohali is over Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 crore.
- CM of Punjab assured all the necessary support for establishing the university.
Amity Group is planning to set up a state-of-the-art university in Mohali. On February 01, 2018, a delegation led by President of Amity Group, Dr. Atul Chauhan met the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh to discuss the proposal. During the meeting with CM, the delegates explained the proposal to set up a campus that could accommodate 20,000 students. The proposed investment for setting up the university is over Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 crore.
An official spokesperson revealed that the delegation proposed to establish the university across 50 acres, located in Mohali. The delegation proposed a few sites in Mohali and the final site is yet to be finalised, he added.

According to Sources, Amity University is planning to set up a science university with a multi-disciplinary approach. The varsity is expected to offer flexibility in structuring the courses to meet the student requirements. The proposed university will have large student residential campus with all the basic and latest amenities. The investor-friendly policy of Punjab Government and huge potential in the region boosted the delegation to take up the issue on priority.
After the meeting, the CM of Punjab directed the Housing Department and Education Department to take up the proposal, and provide all required support to Amity Group.

The new university in Mohali will benefit thousands of students who are looking to access quality education in the region.
If everything materialises as per the plan, the Amity Group will set up the university within two years.
