Andhra Pradesh Engineering Admissions Closed, 33,663 Seats Unfilled
Andhra Pradesh engineering and pharmacy admissions have been concluded. This year, 36% of engineering seats remained vacant across the state.
The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) has concluded the admission process for B.Tech, B.Pharma and Pharma.D courses for the academic session 2018-19. The admissions for these courses were conducted based on AP EAMCET 2018 score. Even though the engineering admissions picked up partially this year, the demand for B.Pharma and Pharma.D courses was poor.
The 287 engineering colleges (including universities) offered 92,940 seats in engineering courses. After the final round of AP EAMCET 2018 counselling, only 59,277 seats were filled. The vacant seats in engineering courses for the academic year 2018-19 has been recorded at 36% (33,663 seats). 3 engineering colleges in the state failed to attract students and recorded zero admissions. Around 50 colleges across the state enrolled less than 30 students while 26 colleges filled all the seats in engineering courses.

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) turned out to be the most sought-after course among the students. A total of 17,335 students chose CSE course while 17,228 students opted for Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE). Apart from these two courses, other branches of engineering failed to make an impact this year. In all, 34,563 students joined CSE and ECE courses out of the total 59,277 students.
B.Pharma and Pharma.D courses failed to attract enough students in Andhra Pradesh as well. Close to 114 colleges offered 3,322 seats in B.Pharma course this year. However, these colleges were able to fill only 280 seats leaving 3,042 seats vacant.

The situation of Pharma.D course is all the more disastrous as only 52 students joined this course. The total number of seats available in Pharma.D course for the academic year 2018-19 was 595 in 59 colleges.
