Here is a list of number of B.Ed colleges to come up in various districts:-

  • Prakasam – 63 colleges
  • Kurnool – 25 colleges
  • Kadapa – 18 colleges
  • Vizayanagaram - 11 colleges

Currently, there are 243 B.Ed colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Each college has a maximum intake up to 100 seats. Now, around 14,000 additional B.Ed seats will come into existence.

This year, around 9,500 students took EDCET examination for the admission into B.Ed course. Surprisingly, only 380 students took the exam in Prakasam district. There are 4,000 B.Ed seats offered by various colleges in the region. It is wondering that why the government has given permission for 63 additional B.Ed colleges in the district.

The course has been losing allure in the state, and the government is granting permission for new colleges instead of reducing the intake. It has also been noted that most of these colleges are not functioning according to the prescribed norms by the state government.
