Andhra Pradesh Govt. Likely to Hike Fees for Professional Courses
Andhra Pradesh government is expected to implement a new fee structure for professional courses next year. Some of the top engineering colleges in the state asked the state government to hike the maximum fees for engineering courses from Rs. 1,08,000 to Rs. 1,50,000.
After hiking the fees for Diploma in Polytechnic and Diploma in Pharmacy courses, the state government of Andhra Pradesh is expected to hike the fees for professional courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and MCA. However, the new fee structure will come into effect from the next year. Private colleges across the state have been urging the state government for a hike in the tuition fee. The colleges informed the state government that the existing tuition fee for professional courses is not sufficient to meet the expenditure.
The proposal to hike the fee for professional courses did not go well with the parents and students. Some of the students criticised the government for increasing the reimbursement and hiking the fees for professional courses. For instance, if a student pays Rs. 1,00,000 as tuition fee, the government reimburses only Rs. 35,000. The rest of Rs. 75,000 must be borne by the candidates.

The students are demanding the state government to hike the reimbursements before increasing the tuition fees for professional courses.
This year, the highest fees for engineering courses under state quota was Rs. 1,08,000 per annum. On the other hand, the minimum fee for M.Tech courses is Rs. 57,000 while the maximum fee is Rs. 1,00,000 in private engineering colleges.
