Andhra University Annual Budget Stands at Rs. 616.04 Crore for 2019-20

Andhra University held an academic senate meeting on March 28, 2019, for deciding the annual budget for the next academic year. VC G Nageswara Rao proposed a budget of Rs. 616.04 crore for the year 2019-20. The university will get Rs. 408.24 crore from the UGC Block Grant and Rs. 207.8 crore from the university’s internal funds. In the meeting, Rector of the university M Prasada Rao, the registrar, senate members, and former VCs were also present.

Andhra University also has plans to start a civil branch in the six-year-integrated engineering course, BA oriental language course in MR Oriental College, one-year postgraduate course in journalism, yoga certificate six-months course, fitness course for defense officials, and part-time and full-time Ph.D. opportunities to CA students from the department of commerce.

The university is also looking at the construction of new blocks and upgrading other blocks for this purpose.

Andhra University is one of the oldest educational institutes in the nation and it is also the first university to be set up as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating University for post-graduate teaching and research.

It was set up in 1926 and the courses taught in the beginning were History, economics, and politics and Telugu language and literature. Then later, the college of science and technology came up and honours courses in Physics and Chemistry were being taught. The university is also known for introducing various new courses in science, management, arts, and engineering in the country, and continues to offer relevant and contemporary courses.
