Anna University Likely to Conduct Final Year Exams Online
The Anna University VC looked quite confident to conduct the final year engineering exams in offline mode if only 30% of the total students opt for it as maintaining a minimum social distance does not look a distant possibility in such a scenario.
With uncertainty looming over conducting final year engineering examinations in the state of Tamil Nadu, Anna University is contemplating to conduct the final year engineering examinations in online mode amidst the restrictions that have been imposed in order to contain the spread of the contagious coronavirus disease. As many as one lakh engineering students from all over Tamil Nadu are waiting to complete their graduation.
Anna University, while deciding upon conducting the final year engineering examinations online, is also expected to offer the option of taking the exam in offline mode to the students who are not comfortable in appearing in the online examination. However, it is expected that at least 70% of the total students will opt for the online mode of the final year examinations.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University M K Surappa, the University officials are seriously considering the option of conducting the final year exams in online mode as there is no point to wait for an indefinite period to hold the exams.

The VC also added that in case a student is unable to qualify the exam, he/she will be given a second opportunity to appear in the exam in pen and paper mode, i.e offline mode. He sounded pretty buoyant while speaking about the prospect of conducting the exams in offline mode if around 30% of the total students opt for it. With only these much students, the VC feels, the exams can be conducted in offline mode by ensuring minimum social distancing between the students.
The questions in the online exam are most likely to be in the multiple-choice pattern. Use of artificial intelligence in the online exams to ensure no foul play is a high probability.
