Anna University Closes Doors to Some of its Engineering Colleges
In a recent turn of events, Anna University has been forced to close down more than 20 of its engineering colleges. Along with closing over 20 engineering colleges, Anna University also had to reduce the number of seat intake that had been prescribed to 92 other colleges under their power.
In an unfortunate situation, a certain number of engineering colleges under the power of Anna University have been shut down. Due to a few shortcomings in the functioning of the administration, Anna University has been forced to take a decision that has affected the University immensely.
Anna University has decided that they will have to completely shut the operations of 22 of its engineering colleges. The 22 private engineering colleges were part of the 537 engineering colleges but were forced to be shut down as Anna University had not renewed the license for those engineering colleges.
The unfortunate circumstance continues as the 22 colleges who do not have a license to run an institution will also not be allowed to take admissions for the next academic year as well, thus resulting in the complete shut down of the engineering colleges.

However, Anna University faces more bad news as a survey of the 537 engineering colleges and it was found out that the colleges lacked the infrastructure as well as the facilities required to conduct the classes for the number of students that they have enrolled in the colleges. The colleges lacked the required facilities for the laboratories as well as to complete the syllabus that has been prescribed by the colleges. It was also found out that the colleges had been facing a shortage in the number of faculty members in the engineering colleges under Anna University.

In order to stop 92 of its engineering colleges under Anna University’s authority, the administration of Anna University had decided to reduce the number of student intake in the 92 engineering colleges by 50%. Sources state that around 15,000 seats have been taken away from the previous total number of seats.
