MoU Signed Between Anna University and PJTSAU
The MoU resulted in the tie-up between two distinctive Indian Universities - youngest and oldest Indian agricultural universities.
The Anna University of Chennai and Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) agreed to mutually work in utilising the drone technology in agricultural operations. Vice-Chancellors from both the Universities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 10 January 2020 at the PJTSAU auditorium in Rajendernagar which was hosting a one-day workshop.
Vice-chancellor of PJTSAU V Praveen Rao emphasised that the keenness of the state government can be seen with the implementation of modern technologies which will benefit the farmers of Telangana. M K Surappa, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University said that the only way to increase the agricultural productivity and crop yield is by the use of advanced technologies. The event also marked the collaboration of the youngest agricultural University with one of the oldest University.

Also present in the event was the Deputy Director-General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research K Alagasundaram who was the chief guest for the workshop’s inaugural session. He briefly talked about how under his chairmanship a committee was formed which extensively studied the use of drone technologies for agriculture. The committee headed by him may give suggestions of utilising drones in agricultural operations.

Among several other notable dignitaries were scientists from companies which manufactures drones, IIT Hyderabad, Directors of the University and NABARD deans took part in the programme enthusiastically.
