In its bit to provide advanced programmes, Anna University will soon start providing a short-term course in the field of physical and molecular sciences called Molecular Beam Epitaxy Programme.
In its bit to provide advanced programmes, Anna University will soon start providing a short-term course in the field of physical and molecular sciences. The university is planning to start a course in Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) technology. All interested candidates can apply for the course through the official website of Anna University.

MBE is the technology used for thin-film deposition of single crystals. This technology was invented in late the 1960s and has since then been used for manufacturing semiconductor devices as well as transistors for cell phones and WiFi. The course provided by the university will be named Low Dimensional Structures and Devices – from Research to Industry. The course will be a six-day long affair.
Following topics will be covered in the course:
- Molecular Beam Epitaxy – technology used and design
- MBE’s impact in the field of research
- Manuscript Discussions
- MBE as a production epitaxial technology
- Semiconductor optoelectronic, electronic and photovoltaic device
- Study of Defects
- Device Structure
- Importance of DLTS and Analysis of Data
Eligibility Criteria to Study Molecular Beam Epitaxy at Anna University:
- Only those candidates who are currently working as engineers, executives or researchers in manufacturing, service or government organisations and their R&D laboratories will be eligible to apply for this course
- Students from academic fields such as B.Tech, M.Sc, M.Tech, Ph.D as well as those who are working as faculty members of reputed educational institutions and technical institutions can apply for the course
