Annual Convocation of YMCA University of Science & Technology Today

The annual convocation ceremony of Faridabad-based YMCA University of Science and Technology will be held on 15 February 2017. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana and the Chancellor of the Unversity will preside over the ceremony.

The entire ceremony will be held in the campus of the University. Prof. Dinesh Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of the University will also grace the occasion. Students, who graduated from the University in the year 2014, 2015, 2016, will participate in the convocation ceremony. Toppers of the respective batches will be awarded gold medals.

This is the second convocation ceremony of the University, ever since it got the status of a University. The degrees will be awarded to the students who graduated in different disciplines like M.Tech., MBA, MCA, M.Sc, B.Tech. Besides that, several gold medals will be offered to students. This includes -

• Chancellor Gold Medal to overall topper
• Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal to academic as well other activities topper
• Chief Minister Gold Medal to overall girl topper

A press release from the University stated that 13 students will be awarded different gold medals during the convocation ceremony. Interestingly, few days before the ceremony, University changed dress code of the attendee and students for the convocation ceremony. It decided to junk the traditional black robes and a square hat. Instead, the students were asked to wear traditional Indian robes.

In the recent past, there has been lots of controversy regarding British era black robes and square hats. Anil Vij, the Health and Sports Minister of the state refused to attend the convocation ceremony of a college in Ambala Cantt, the constituency he represents, in March 2015, as students used to wear gowns for the ceremony.
