AP Govt. Announces Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students
A financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh will be provided to the selected students under this scheme.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced a financial assistance scheme for the students from minority communities to pursue postgraduate and professional education overseas from the current fiscal year. A total number of 500 students would be selected under this scheme annually to pursue postgraduate and doctoral degrees in management, engineering, agriculture sciences, social sciences, medical and nursing and humanities streams. The name of the scheme is ‘Overseas Education Scheme for Minorities’.

The students will be divided into two batches (250 each) for the ‘fall’ and ‘spring’ intake. Under this plan, 33% reservation has been marked for women. A financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh will be provided to the selected students under this scheme. Apart from it, the students can also take a loan up to Rs. 5 lakh for which the Andhra Pradesh Minorities Finance Corporation (APMFC) would coordinate with the nationalised banks. The students will also be reimbursed visa fee, and they will be provided with a one-way economy class ticket. The students can pursue two years of post-graduate or doctoral studies abroad.

The primary objective of the scheme is to enable backward and financially weak communities to access quality education at reputed international institutions. Through this scheme, the students can pursue their studies in UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Netherlands, Sweeden, Denmark, France and Russia.
