AP Health Minister Urges Centre to Lower NEET Cut-Off Score

Kamineni Srinivasarao, Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh urged the Central government to lower cut-off score for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET so that more students from the state will qualify in the examination.

Kamineni Srinivasarao, Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh urged the Central government to lower cut-off score for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET so that more students from the state will qualify in the examination. He convened a press meet on February 20, 2017, and stated that the reduction in the cut-off scores will help more medical aspirants seek admission to MBBS/ BDS courses.

He expressed that the Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda considered the request and assured positive response. If the government gives a positive response, it will help in filling vacant seats, which also include non-clinical courses in government colleges.

He also requested the Union Health Minister to provide a NEET test centre in Tirupati to facilitate the students of Rayalasemma region. Currently, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam are two test centres, and one more test centre shall come up.

Mr. Kamineni Srinivas also urged the Union Health Ministry to fasten the process of setting up an All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri. The foundation stone for AIIMS, Mangalagiri was laid two years back and only the construction of foundation walls have been completed so far. He requested the ministry to complete the process as early as possible.

He also exhorted the Union Health Ministry for setting up of three more super specialty blocks in the district medical college hospitals. He further added that the state government would submit a list of three priority locations for the same after holding discussions with AP Chief Minister.
