Class 10, 12 Board Exams: In an exclusive interview with Press Trust of India (PTI), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan indicated that appearing for Class 10, 12 board exams twice a year is not a mandatory rule and will be purely optional. Students can decide whether to appear for board exams twice a year. The decision to conduct board exams twice a year has been taken according to the New Education Policy (NEP). However, the new rule does not come into effect immediately and will be rolled out for future academic sessions.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan further expressed that the decision to conduct board exams twice a year was taken to reduce stress among students and avoid the fear of a single opportunity. He further confirmed that the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) is being reconstituted because the existing system does not meet the demands of today's education.

Dharmendra Pradhan further indicated that the government is planning to figure out ways where students do not require coaching for competitive exams like JEE Main and NEET. According to the minister, it is the collective responsibility to keep the students stress-free and the instances pertaining to student suicides in Kota should completely go down in future.
