Apply for HRD Ministry’s ‘Hackathon’ by January 31; Check Details Here!

The registration process for Hackathon 2017 organised by the HRD Ministry will end on January 31, 2017. The Hackathon will see participation from various institutes across India. Participants will explore the possibilities of identifying suspects and solutions to prevent cyber-attack with the help of digital technology.

600 such cyber-security problems related to different ministries will be tried out by the students at the Hackathon. The schedule of the event has not been announced yet but the ministry has informed that the participants will have to perform in teams. The winners of the event will get the opportunity to work with the HRD ministry.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar explained the purpose of the event and said that it will help in finding solutions for various digital issues faced by the central government. Some of the issues are plagiarism in Ph.D. theses that can be solved by simple solutions.

The ministry will introduce similar interesting problem statements for participants to solve. Other challenges include a mobile app that can show real-time inventory of blood and its availability during calamities, using social media to keep a track of intelligence or vigilance related data, gaming apps for the elderly, apps that can inform about AYUSH systems of medicine, etc.

The Department of Posts has also proposed a few challenges including Bag Tracking and Alert System, Analytical Tool for Preventing Frauds, etc.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has forwarded a task of developing a crowd sourcing solution to detect disease outbreaks. On the other hand, the UGC has sent a request to develop a process to deal with the fake universities.
