Apply for M.Tech, Ph.D., M.Des at IIT Kanpur with your GATE 2017 Score
These admissions are for the July session of the programmes at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) or IIT-K has started the application process for admission to various programmes such as Master of Technology (M.Tech), Ph.D. (Doctorate degree), Master of Design (M.Des) as well as Master of Science (MS Research). These admissions are for the July session of the programmes at IIT Kanpur.
Now that the GATE 2017 results are out, the candidates who have secured good marks can definitely apply for PG (post graduation) and research programmes at the premier engineering institute. Candidates of both the categories - Sponsored as well as Non-Sponsored can apply for the above-mentioned programmes.

It shall be noted that the institute will provide financial assistance to those who apply as 'non-sponsored' category. Also, if a candidate is willing to apply for more than one programme - he/she will have to fill in separate application forms for each.
The online application process for these programmes will commence today - 28th March 2017. Please note that the last day to fill in the complete application form is 21st April 2017.

Information on Financial Aid for the Non-sponsored candidates:
- Institute Assistantship which is a form of financial aid is granted to candidates of the regular non-sponsored category. With this, the candidates can pursue any of the courses among M.Tech, M.Des, M.Sc., Ph.D. and other research and dual degree programmes at IIT Kanpur. Whoever is selected for the same is expected to fulfill the duties that are assigned to him or her with respect to Teaching and Research Assistantship. A student is additionally provided a stipend of Rs. 12,400/- for eight hours of work every week.
- On the other hand, candidates who enroll as Ph.D. scholars are granted a stipend of Rs. 25,000/- per month initially (for two years) and then Rs. 28,000/- per month for the remaining tenure of the Ph.D. programme, which is also two years.
- Thirdly, candidates of M.Sc-Ph.D. dual degree programme are provided an approximate 50% tuition fee waiver, but only after the first semester of the programme.
- In addition, the aspiring candidates can also seek financial assistance from the variety of funding agencies that are present in the country including University Grants Commission (UGC), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) etc.
