Arun Jaitley: Education Being Hindered by Globalisation, Technology
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that there needs to be super-specialization in the field of law to move concurrently with times.
Having realized that the aspects such as technology, globalization and economy have transformed the legal education provided in the country, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that there needs to be super-specialization in the field of law to move concurrently with times.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony of Karnataka Lingayat Education Society’s new campus of the Law College, the minister said that now the need to focus on concepts of legal education like criminal and civil suit law are not as urgent as they were earlier.
Furthermore, the minister elaborated on the skills of a successful lawyer and said that in order to become one, aspirants must enhance their traditional concepts as the traditional concepts will hardly be used in the days to come. Super-specialisation will replace the traditional approach.
Jaitley said that the effect of globalization can be reversed which will be ‘counterproductive’ for the legal education.

Since service sector has had a huge contribution to India’s economy, people need to be trained to keep the country growing, he said.
Although Indian economy has rooted from agriculture, a deep study in this field reveals that 60% of it is related to services. He also said that at a global level, India has great capital in the services sector and this is the reason why training the people in India is important in order to promote the service sector.
The college has nearly 1,200 students from various parts of India who are provided training by 36 faculty members who are highly experienced. The college provides state-of-art facilities for quality education and growth of minds.
