Ashoka University Set to Offer Science Programmes at UG Level
One of the leading universities of the country, Ashoka University is all set to offer science programmes to students from the next academic session of 2017.
One of the leading universities of the country, Ashoka University is all set to start science programmes to students from the next academic session that will commence in the year 2017.
An official of this Haryana-based university said that the University's new science departments will be dedicated to Biology, Physics, and Environmental Sciences. Besides these subjects, the university also plans to introduce a course in Chemistry.

Right now the University only has departments of social sciences, humanities, computer science, mathematics and psychology.
Undergraduate programmes at Ashoka university cost around Rs 7.8 lakhs annually. It has come to light that the new science courses that will be offered at the University would also cost around the same amount. Officials said that the objective behind offering these new science programmes is to provide aspirants with a chance to pursue concept-driven courses. Here research will be an important component.
Ashoka University will have a group of scientists as advisors for the science programmes to be offered. They are:
- Sabyasachi Bhattacharya from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
- Sumantra Chattarji from the National Centre for Biological Sciences
- LS Shashidhara also from the National Centre for Biological Sciences
