Assam Don Bosco University Conducts Workshop On Research Methodology

A 10-day ‘Research Methodology Workshop’ is ongoing at the Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Azara. The workshop started on Sunday, April 3. Prof VK Shrivastava, Head, Department of Anthropology, Delhi University delivered his keynote speech as the Chief Guest of the inaugural programme.

Over 30 research scholars and 18 resource persons from 20-odd universities across the country are participating in it. The workshop is being carried with an aim to help Ph.D. scholars undertake professional research in the field of social sciences. This workshop is organised by the Assam Don Bosco University School of Humanities and Social sciences and being sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi.

Prof Srivastava, in his speech, focused on the need for ‘scientific honesty and rigour to be ensured in research in research and undertakings’. Along with this, he raised his concern on ‘the plague of plagiarism’ that has been prevalent in our country causing great embarrassment to academicians.’

31 participants are representing Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh; Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow; Central University, Gujrat; Gauhati University, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat; International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai; Banaras Hindu University; Varanasi; Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyala, Bilaspur; Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli; Mahatma Gandhi Antarashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha; Patna University; North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong; Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati; Nagaland University, Kohima, and Sikkim University, Gangtok.

The workshop was to build up the competence in the participants to understand the meaning and objectives of research in the social sciences.
