Assam Govt. to Appoint 877 Teachers in Colleges and Schools
- Many government high schools across the state have been functioning without a permanent headmaster.
- Improving pass percentage in these schools is also one of the major objectives of the government.
The government of Assam has completed the all the formalities of recruitment of teachers in various government colleges and schools across the state. The state government will appoint 877 teachers within one week. Chief Minister of Assam will present appointment letters to 105 teachers on August 4, 2017. All these 105 teachers have been appointed as college teachers in five new government-run colleges.

Among the above-mentioned government colleges, Cotton College has been transformed into a university. The academic session in these colleges will begin immediately after the appointment of teachers. The construction works of seven more model colleges in underway. The state government will also identify certain sites and establish educational institutes (if necessary).
By 2018, the state government will set up three more colleges in Nagaon, Cachar and Karbi Anglong.

Education Minister of Assam, Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the state government would hand over appointment letters to 146 assistant headmasters and 626 headmasters in high schools across the state on August 7, 2017. Many government high schools across the state have been functioning without a permanent headmaster and these new appointments will help sort out the issue.
The minister further informed that around 120 retired teachers had been appointed as special inspectors in various schools where the pass percentage in metric examinations was below 10 percent. Improving pass percentage in these schools is also one of the major objectives of the government.
