Professor Dilip Chandra Nath took charges as the 6th Vice Chancellor of Assam University on Monday, May 16. Talking to the correspondents after taking charge of the new position, Professor Nath said, “Efforts have been made in the past to steer this university towards excelsior. However, the university has not been able to reach up to the expected levels. My objective would be to make this university visible in the academic map of India.”
Assam University came into existence through Assam (Central) University Act, 1989 (Established under an Act of Parliament). It was established in 1994, since then the University is steadily becoming an excellent centre of learning.
The University offers various Graduate and Post-graduate courses in arts, science and commerce.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor also interacted with officials of various departments, expressing his concern over the betterment of the university. He also talked to the students and said that he will attend to the student’s issues once their exams are over.
Along with this, Nath said that setting up of a congenial atmosphere for studying in the university would be his top priority. He showed his interest in shaping the career of each and every student of the university.
