AU to Appeal to NAAC regarding B++ Accreditation
National Assessment and Accreditation Council have awarded Allahabad University with B++ accreditation after 10 years of not having a NAAC accreditation. AU is not happy with the accreditation and might appeal for reconsideration.
Allahabad University has been given the B++ accreditation rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Allahabad University, however, is unsatisfied with the rating that has been awarded to them. Allahabad University might go for an appeal and ask NAAC to reconsider their decision for the same.
Allahabad University has been without a NAAC Accreditation for the past decade as they had failed to meet the criteria needed for NAAC to give accreditation. The previous accreditation that Allahabad University had received was the same rating that they have received this year. The University Grants Commission had sent a five-member team to the University for the assessment for a period of three days, from 26th March 2019 to 28th March 2019.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council had awarded the varsity with B++ accreditation on March 31st, 2019. The accreditation has been valid since 1st April 2019 and will continue for its five-year duration and expire on 31st March 2024. The result was announced after the team had conducted a thorough assessment including personally meeting with the various administrators like Varisty’s Vice-Chancellor, the heads different departments as well as the alumni and employees. The team also visited the different departments of AU where they were given presentations by the departments while displaying the achievements made by them as well as their plans for their future.
According to various sources, the administration is unhappy with the score that they have been awarded. They added that the score that they received might be the result of failing to include a few of the best facilities that are on offer at the University, in their SSR (Self-Study Report). The sources also added that they feel the reason the one area that the University failed to get a good score was the teacher-student ratio or the mentor-mentee ratio. They had received a comparatively better score in all the other areas.

Other sources also say that if they appeal to the council about the various other elements that Allahabad University has in its possession which was missing in the self-study report that was submitted by them to NAAC authorities, then they might receive a better score or accreditation.
