Australian Foreign Minister Enlightens Indian Students about Education Opportunities

Julie Bishop, Australia's Foreign Minister talked about education and career opportunities in Australia during her brief visit to India. While briefing students, she enlightened them about the various exchange programmes that are highly beneficial for students.

Speaking during an interactive session at the Shiv Nadar School, Bishop highlighted the importance of communication skills and benefits of Australian educational programmes.

Emphasising the fact that Australia is the second most popular destination for students seeking overseas education, she said that close to 70,000 Indian students enrolled themselves in different Australian universities during the session 2016-17. This goes to prove that institutes in Australia offer world-class education, Bishop added.

This is the era of unparalleled change and technological advancements have overcome most of the world and sometimes disrupt the way humans live and jeopardising communication process, said Bishop.

Highlighting the importance of communication, she said that apart from prioritising technological adaptability, we must also make sure that communication skills of an individual are not hampered by the over indulgence of machines.

Bishop had travelled to India for two days in order to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with her Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. The meeting was aimed to discuss the various aspects of the bilateral engagement concerning defence and security issues.

She further added that the careers and jobs in the future will be a lot different as the set of problems and challenges of the future will also be different. The education system, therefore, faces the challenge to prepare the students for the jobs of the future, she added.
