Bangalore Engineering Colleges Shut Down Due To Lack of Funds
Yellamma Dasappa Institute of Technology and Sri Vidya Vinayaka Institute of Technology are requested to shut down due to financial crunch.Around 200 students from these colleges were re-allotted seats in other institutes.
Two very esteemed colleges of Bengaluru, Yellamma Dasappa Institute of Technology and Sri Vidya Vinayaka Institute of Technology had to shut down because they had insufficient funds. The students had to be re-allotted seats in other institutes on Tuesday. A committee from the college helped in the process of reallocation.
VTU notifies that whether the students had a backlog or not, they all have been allotted seats in other institutes and even with the backlog papers, students can still attend the classes and give exams.

Many unpleasant issues and challenges are being faced by the engineering colleges of Karnataka. Many engineering institutes are finding it hard to sustain themselves as they all are facing the problem of insufficient amounts. These colleges have received notice All India Council for Technical Education to shut down the colleges. There are colleges with as low as 30% intake and are even unwilling to pay off the salaries even to their staff, as stated by MK Panduranaga Setty (President, Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering College Association). The situation is so bad that management wants to sell off their colleges to prospective clients as the colleges are no longer making profit.

AICTE has sent closure notices to 800 engineering colleges all over India, where admissions have been very poor from past 5 continuous years. As per H.U Talwar, the Director of Dept. of Technical Education, there are a total of 207 engineering colleges in Karnataka.Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice-chancellor of VTU says that no further admissions will be entertained in these two colleges for the academic year 2019-2020.
This wil promote transperancy in the engineering education and will also help to keep a check on the engineering colleges in the country and quality of education.
