Despite the ban by All IIT Placement Committee (AIPC) on startups at the campus recruitment drives, banned startups still plan to hire the talents from IITs. In August 2016, 30 start-up companies were blacklisted by the All IIT Placement Committee (AIPC) and imposed a ban on taking part in the campus placement process for different reasons like:
- Reneging on job offers
- Delaying joining dates
- Downward revision of CTC
- Recruiters not honouring the offer commitments
Most of the start-ups feel that it was unfair to ban them without issuing any warning. They feel that ban will not prevent them from taking top talents from the IITs.

Some of the leading start-ups that were barred from campus hiring were:
- Grofers
- Peppertap
- Portea Medical
- MeraHunar
- Cashcare Technologies
- LexInnova
- IndusInsight
- GPSK
Many start-ups need premier engineering talent to survive in the competition. Lots of IIT students are looking forward to joining startups, said an official of Portea Medical.

A spokesperson of Mera Hunar said that students from the IITs are reaching to them despite the official ban. Most of the companies are planning to hire 6-7 engineers from the IIT on an average.
In all probability, AIPC is unlikely to revoke the ban. A spokesperson of AIPC said that they are just protecting students’ welfare. These companies have no right to behave unprofessionally with students.
In August 2016, around 135 students from different IITs were affected due to the last-minute revoking of offers by several start-ups. Students from IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee were badly affected by revoking of the offer letters.
