Bharathiar University Signs MoU with University of Johannesburg for Academic Cooperation
The MoU between the two institutes facilitates student exchange programme, faculty exchange programme for research, engaging and teaching of special courses in various specialisations and study abroad programme.
Nowadays, most of the Indian universities are collaborating with foreign varsities to consolidate academic ties, to offer various courses, facilitate student-exchange programme and to take up joint research initiatives. Collaborations with foreign universities will help the institutes to expand their global outreach and boost rankings.
In one such latest development, Bharathiar University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Johannesburg located in South Africa. The purpose of this collaboration is academic cooperation between the two institutes. The agreement will help both the institutes to take up academic activities and research initiatives.

The MoU between the two institutes facilitates student exchange programme, faculty exchange programme for research, engaging and teaching of special courses in various specialisations and study abroad programmes.
The MoU has been signed between the Registrar-In charge of Bharathiar University, Prof. B. Vanitha and Prof. Swart, Dean of Health Sciences at the University of Johannesburg.

Both the varsities will take up joint research initiatives.Faculty of Bharathiar University will have a chance to take part in research activities at the University of Johannesburg and vice-versa. Students will also have a chance to pursue one or two semesters at the University of Johannesburg as a part of the student exchange programme. Through this initiative, the students will get an exposure outside of their home institution and will be able to incubate new ideas.
Coimbatore-based Bharathiar University was established in the year 1982 by the government of Tamil Nadu. The varsity received the recognition from UGC or University Grants Commission in 1985.
