A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Banaras Hindu University and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in order to promote academic activities. By the signing of this memorandum the BHU would now be offering degree programs in collaboration with the NSE from the current academic session. According to the head and dean of faculty of commerce, BHU, Prof. Asha Ram Tripathi,” As a part of the agreement with NSE, two new courses, B.Com (Hons) in financial market management and MBA in financial management will be taught here. These courses would play a vital role in preparing the future generations for myriad opportunities in financial market.”

The agreement was signed by BHU registrar, K P Upadhyay and senior assistant vice president and head of northern region of NSE, Rana Usman on the occasion.

The managing director and chief executive officer of NSE, Chitra Ramakrishna said,” The ever-growing Indian capital market requires professionals who can participate in nation building.” According to her the MoU would not only help in promoting financial literacy but would also give the country some of the finest of financial managers.

According to the vice chancellor of the university Prof. GC Tripathi the agreement would enhance the capacity building as well as the skills of the students who would take these courses B.Com and MBA in financial market management and financial management respectively. It would also improve upon the operational tradings. The financial markets as well as the institutions would also benefit with the availability of the skilled manpower.

As per the agreement the students opting for the two courses would have to simultaneously clear the papers from NSE certification in financial markets (NCFM) and acquire market skills through web-based market stimulated NSE software.
