Bihar Education Project Council and UNICEF in a joint partnership with CARE India, has organized an event on “Promoting Reading Culture through Inclusive and Gender Responsive School Libraries.”
CARE India is an organization committed to look into the interests of under-privileged women and girls especially those from tribal areas, the Adivasi and the Dalit communities through development programs and relief measures. The CARE India has relentlessly worked for the development of girls since past two decades. The organization strives to provide quality education to the disadvantaged female population.
Dr. D.S. Gangwar (IAS), Principal Secretary, Education department was present as the special guest along with Shinvendra Pandya, Program Manager, UNICEF and Mr. Rajan Bahadur, Managing Director& CEO of CARE India. During the program, all the participants including the Education Minister resolved to build strong a foundation for meaningful learning process.
Realizing the need to create a culture of reading in communities, and focussing on breaking a certain category of stereotypes around inequality in gender were main highlights. A discussion was also held on whether how to inculcate reading at schools and help students hone their skills through reading habit in destitute areas.
