NIOS Starts 7,472 Service Centres for Online Filling of Application Forms
The initiative would benefit the students where the students can utilise all facilities of NIOS on payment of a token money.
With an objective to give a boost to Digital India and Skill India initiatives, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has set up common service centres in all 38 districts of Bihar through which the students can fill online application forms for class 10 & 12 examinations.
Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Regional Director of NIOS, revealed that NIOS has started 7,472 service centres in 38 districts of Bihar. The initiative would benefit the students where the students can utilise all facilities of NIOS on the payment of token money. These centres are also known as ‘Vasudha Kendras’.

Through these centres, the students can register for the examination and pay the exam fee. The students who are living in far off or remote areas can pursue education along with earning livelihood with the help of NIOS.
Mr. Sinha further added that the service centres are located in respective villages and panchayats. The main objective of establishing these centres is to protect the students from intermediaries, and the centres will provide facilities for getting a copy of admit cards and exam results.

Earlier, NIOS was known as National Open School, and the name was changed to National Institute of Open School (NIOS) in the year 2002. It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development in the year 1989 to provide education in remote areas. The main motive of launching NIOS is to increase the literacy rate and inculcate flexible learning.
