Bihar: Topper of Class 12 Exams Fails to Explain Concepts of Music, One of his Subjects
- Although he can beat a drum, Ganesh couldn’t answer questions about other musical instruments.
- Jharkhand's Ganesh enrolled himself for BSEB, 250 km away from his home.
- He scored 18 marks in music theory whereas scored 65 marks in the practical exam.
Ganesh Kumar, resident of a village named Saraiya in the Giridih region of Jharkhand, topped the IA exams organised by the Bihar State Examination Board (BSEB). However, the individual was unable to answer the basic questions regarding music despite having topped the exam with music, home science and psychology.
He studies at Samastipur’s Ram Nandan Singh Jagdeep Narayan Higher Secondary School. Although he can beat a drum, Ganesh couldn’t answer questions asked by a journalist about musical instruments such as flute and tabla.
His inability to prove his competence has once again led authorities to question the quality of education and examination system in Bihar. After 2016’s Topper's Scam that exposed Ruby Rai and other toppers of BSEB who secured top positions by fraudulent activities, the reputation of the state’s education has dropped many folds.
Ganesh’s story is another big question in the face of schooling. Another question that is being asked is why, Ganesh, a resident of Jharkhand enrolled himself for BSEB exams, 250 km away from his home.

According to reports, Ganesh was also not a regular student at his school and his examination form does not comprise his present address. The date when he took admission in the school was also not mentioned.
The location of Ganesh is unknown ever since May 30, 2017, the day when BSEB results were announced. His date of birth during the admission was recorded to be June 2, 1993. Ganesh cleared his class 10 exams from Sanjay Gandhi School, Shivajinagar, Samastipur and scored 330 marks out of 500.
