Gujarat Board Examination Evaluators to be put under CCTV Surveillance
The GSHSEB has put CCTV cameras to keep a check on the teachers so that they refrain themselves from the common practice of skipping exam sheet evaluation duty and misinforming the board about attendance.
After examination halls, CCTV cameras are installed in 335 evacuation centres to keep strong surveillance on teachers to ensure they are not fudging their attendance record and skipping Duty which had become a very common practice among government-aided school teachers for a long period of time.
Previously the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or GSHSEB decided to put CCTV cameras in examination centres to ensure no student is passing using unethical means. Thus, GSHSEB kept eye on more than 18 lakh students in the last board examinations. The decision to keep teachers also under surveillance came after the decision after the board examinations became over.
A. J. Shah, the chairman of GSHSEB (Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board) said that the council will have the CCTV data in DVDs to keep check of any kind of malpractices by evaluators. It will also be used for checking attendance of the examination copy evaluators
With CCTV cameras installed in 335 examination centres, the board says it will be able to keep an eye on around 50 thousand evaluators. It will make sure that the GSHSEB teachers are not skipping their examination duty and manipulating attendance records. There have been many cases where teachers skipped duty and misinformed the board on attendance. The board took this strict step to curb these malpractices which have been continuing from many years.

The number of students who attempted the last board examination is, 18.40 lakh in Class X and Class XII combined. There are 60 lakh exam sheets alone in class X which are remaining to be evaluated.
