Board Exams Begin in Kashmir, Thousands of Students Appear

After months of unrest in Kashmir, students of the state finally see a ray of hope. Students hope to be back to their normal education routine. Transport across the state has increased significantly and people are moving across the valley as the annual board examinations started in the state on November 14, 2016.

Over 48,000 candidates are appearing for the class 12 examination across Kashmir the division. To accommodate these students, 484 centres have been set up. Parents had asked the government to delay the exams as the education of the students was disrupted due to unrest in the valley.

The government took a firm step and decided not to defer the exam dates. Security measures have been taken so that the exams can be conducted smoothly, without any violence. Despite the thorough security arrangements in the valley, the people were not restricted to move.

Vehicles were seen rushing through the city and the shops were open in civil lines area as well as on the outskirts of the city and other rural areas in other districts of Kashmir. For the ease of commutation of the students, inter-district cabs were also operating on different routes.

The government has shown the students of Kashmir a glimmer of hope by organizing the board exams. It is a message to all the students of the state who aspire to study and an opportunity for those who want to embrace education in pursuit to improve their circumstances.
