JEE MAIN 2023: After the Bombay High Court on January 4 gave time to the petitioner, Anubha Sahai, to file JEE Main 2023 information brochure, the next hearing will be held tooday, January 10, 2023. So, what to expect from the second hearing on JEE Main 2023 postponement? Firstly, it is to be noted that this case is being handled separately for the two criteria: postponement and 75% eligibility, and the hearing too is likely to see the same.

JEE Main 2023 Bombay HC Second Hearing: Postponement Expectations

The highlights of the expectations from today’s hearing are enlisted here:

  • Unlike the first hearing when mostly a next hearing date was expected, a decision and another hearing date are equally expected.

  • The court will go through all the highlighted rules and the arguments of both sides. If the court finds another deficiency in the petition, a further hearing date is more likely.

  • It is usually seen that the court does not entertain postponement pleas, be it the supreme court or other high courts. The court will not interfere in the proceedings of the examination.

  • In case a decision is given, it will mostly be ruled in the favour of the National Testing Agency (NTA) i.e., non-postponement.

JEE Main 2023 Bombay HC Second Hearing: 75% Eligibility Expectations

As the argument for this is different, the following are the expectations regarding the criteria of 75% marks in 10+2 board exams:

  • On January 2, 2023, a Member of Parliament Karti P Chidambaram wrote to the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to relax the eligibility criteria and that matter has now been sent to the concerned department for requisite action.

  • If a decision comes on this matter, the court is likely to leave it to the government. Any changes as ordered by the education ministry will be implemented by the NTA.

  • The court is less likely to adjourn it further.

  • Also, Chidambaram in his letter had requested another attempt for those candidates who had passed in 2020. As this is not filed by Sahai, the court will not interfere.
