An outlay of Rs 12,000-crore has been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to impart skills to 1 crore people over the next four years. According to the scheme, fresh training will be provided to 60 lakh people and 40 lakh out of those will be given certificates on acquiring skills under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
The trainees will also be financially supported in the form of travel allowance and their boarding and lodging cost will also be taken care of. The trainees will also be provided with Post-placement support through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
For transparency, this amount of training cost will be directly linked to Aadhaar and biometrics. Placement camps and mobilisation camps will be organised to help the people with mobilisation, monitoring and post-training placement of trainees.
According to an official "Skill training would be done based on industry-led standards aligned to the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF),".
Apart from training them for domestic jobs, they are also trained under international standards so that they can apply for overseas employment in Gulf countries and Europe.
Also scholarship will be provided to those students who are undergoing training in high-end job roles under the programme.
Depending on the functional and operational requirements, target allocation between fresh training and RPL will be flexible and interchangeable.
