On March 21, 2017, a syndicate meeting of Calcutta University was held and the authorities decided to take strict measures to regulate excess admissions from the next academic session, i.e., 2017-18. Therefore, the authorities have taken the decision to direct all the colleges to submit the admission details for the academic session 2016-17.

After the meeting, it has been learnt that the colleges are not allowed to admit the students more than the stipulated intake. If the colleges do the same violating the guidelines of the varsity, they need to provide a justification for the same.

On the other hand, the varsity will ask all the colleges to submit the details relating to various courses and granted intake in each course.

The varsity also directed the colleges to upload the details of shortlisted candidates in each course on the official website as soon as the merit list is released. After completing the admission process, the colleges have to upload the final merit list, which should have the name of the candidates who took the admission. The colleges should also disclose the total number of vacant seats available.
