Calicut University issues MBA Certificate without VC’s Signature
- Calicut University issued an MBA degree without the sigh of the VC to a graduate who works in Saudi Arabia.
- The graduate was unable to present his degree to his employer as it is invalid without the signature of the VC.
Calicut University has landed itself in a big problem by issuing an MBA degree certificate which does not bear the signature of the vice-chancellor to a student. M A Sabith who pursued his MBA degree from the Department of Commerce and Management Studies at the Calicut University received his degree certificate by post at his residence.

Sabith had moved to Saudi Arabia after getting a job opportunity in January and had applied for the degree certificate under the urgent mode and had paid extra fees for the same. As it was one of the most important documents asked as a proof by his new employer. However, after receiving the certificate on Saturday he stated that it is impossible for him to submit this certificate to his employer as its invalid without VC’s signature. He also mentioned that he tried contacting the concerned authorities at the university but nobody responded to his calls.

Meanwhile, VV George Kutty, Controller of Examinations at CU stated that the incident is purely a case of human error. According to him it is a rare mistake and could have been due to a lapse from a clerk in verifying the degree certificate properly before dispatching the same. Calicut University issues thousands of certificates every year and this is for the first time something like this has happened.
However, the examination standing committee covener CL Joshi has asked the syndicate to look into the matter and take strict actions.
