Calicut University asks Private Students to Shift their Registration to SDE
- There are around 27,000 students enrolled at the Calicut University who would be changing their registration to SDE.

The Calicut University has asked all the students under private registration to shift to School of Distance Education (SDE) as per UGC guidelines. There are around 27,000 students who would be changing their registration to SDE. As per the guidelines, SDE also mentioned that all private students should change their registration to SDE from 26 February to 14 March except BA (Urdu).

According to the sources, SDE officials said that all the private students from courses such as B.A., B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Com should remit a fee of Rs. 500 to get their registration changed to SDE. Whereas students from BBA programme should pay a fee of Rs 1000.
The students will be provided with online study material and contact classes during the first year. However, for the second and third year, B.A. students will have to pay a fee of Rs. 1400 and B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Com students will have to pay Rs. 1600 and for BBA students the fee is Rs 3000. During their second and third year of the programme, students will be provided with contact classes and printed study material.

As of now, there are more than 27,000 students under private registration and 12,809 students under SDE. Students such as SC/ST and OBC students will get fee concessions. Calicut University had to discontinue various programmes as per SDE in 2015 and shift the programmes to private registration after the UGC guidelines to withdraw the recognition for open and distance learning courses.
